WASHINGTON, June 4, 2008 – The National Association of Professional Insurance Agents (PIA) has announced the promotion of Mike Becker to Director of Federal Affairs.

“We congratulate Mike Becker on his promotion and look forward to benefiting from his expertise,” said PIA National Executive Vice President & CEO Leonard Brevik, in making the announcement. “Mike brings a wealth of talent and political acumen to PIA’s Capitol Hill advocacy on behalf of professional insurance agents.”

Since joining PIA, Becker has managed the day-to-day responsibilities associated with running the Professional Insurance Agents Political Action Committee (PIAPAC), including PAC governance and oversight, grassroots initiatives and fundraising. He also serves as staff liaison to the PIAPAC Board of Directors.

Becker began his career at PIA in March of 2007. Prior to that, he served as a Legislative Assistant for the Consumer Healthcare Products Association (CHPA) from 2004 to 2007. He joined CHPA after a short stint as a Legislative Correspondent on Capitol Hill. Becker received a degree in Government and International Politics from George Mason University.

Founded in 1931, PIA is a national trade association that represents member insurance agents and their employees who sell and service all kinds of insurance, but specialize in coverage of automobiles, homes and businesses.
