Latest Rankings of Insurance Carrier Tweets

 

Twitter is a means for most insurers to provide soft marketing messages concerning promotions, sponsorships and endorsements as well as financial quizzes, insurance-related educational materials and disaster warnings. Some direct auto insurers have created customer-service twitter identities.

USAA tops the follower count but its growth rate has slowed. State Farm is often near the lead in tweet counts, and Travelers’ follower base is growing quickly. The average number of tweets in the industry is now 69 per month, double the number of just six months ago. This item includes charts showing leaders by number of followers, leaders by three month growth and leaders by average tweet activity.

Professional independent insurance agents have been leaders in the adoption of social media platforms to advance their businesses. The experiences of many agents who utilize social media to market their agencies was the theme of the 2010 PIA National Agency Marketing Guide. In addition, PIA National is preparing to bestow its first annual Excellence in Social Media Award, honoring one PIA member agency for excellence in the use of social media in a business setting.
