North Dakota Bill Bans Use of Inquiries as Underwriting Factor

 

A bill that limits the types of background information that might be used in underwriting personal insurance coverage was passed by the North Dakota legislature. Senate Bill 2816 bars insurers from considering inquiries about coverage as an underwriting factor. North Dakota Insurance Commissioner Jim Poolman hailed passage of the legislation as “a necessary consumer protection.”
