Nebraska "File-and-Use" Bill Advances

A bill introduced at the request of the Nebraska Department of Insurance has made its way out of committee and is headed to consideration by the full Unicameral. LB 119, would amend various sections of the Property and Casualty Insurance Rate and Form Act to mandate that personal lines rates and forms be filed by insurers with the insurance department on a "file and use" rather than a "prior approval" basis. Supporters say the bill provides a "significant step forward" toward regulatory modernization.
