Council Drops Countersignature Suit Against West Virginia

The Council of Insurance Agents & Brokers said it dropped its lawsuit against the state of West Virginia over a requirement that out of state agents have a local agent countersignature. The group said it made the decision after West Virginia Governor Bob Wise said he would sign a bill passed last month repealing the countersignature statute. CIAB said that it has similar lawsuits still pending in South Dakota, Nevada and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
