Kansas DOI Creates Anti-fraud Division

Kansas Insurance Commissioner Sandy Praeger has announced the creation of an expanded anti-fraud division within the Kansas Insurance Department. Jerry Wells, formerly Director of Government Affairs and Special Counsel to the Commissioner, will head up the new division. The Kansas Insurance Department is currently investigating more than 250 cases of fraud in all four corners of the state involving everything from forgery to false claims. “By focusing our efforts to both combat crime and enhance consumer education, we hope to send a clear message throughout the state that we mean business when it comes to fighting insurance cons and schemes,” Praeger said in a statement.
