NAIC Continues Work on Criminal History Record Check Model Act

Hopes to Adopt Model in 2005

During the NAIC's winter meetings, held December 4-7 in New Orleans, the NAIC's Producer Licensing Working Group announced that it will continue to work on the Criminal History Record Check Model Act with the hope of adopting it in 2005. Significant changes have been made to the model so that PIA does not object at this time to its adoption. Related to this model, the five pilot states for the fingerprint file repository (New York, California, Pennsylvania, Idaho, and Alaska) will begin to submit fingerprints in March of 2005.

What It Means to Agents: The success of these pilot states will help determine the feasibility of a national fingerprint repository for use by all insurance jurisdictions.
