Senate Banking Committee Advances NFIP Reform Bill Minus Wind Provision

The House and Senate appear to be headed for a confrontation on flood insurance reform. On October 17, the Senate Banking Committee passed a bill (H.R. 3121) to reform the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP). The Senate bill does not include a provision allowing the NFIP to offer windstorm coverage to homeowners who have purchased flood insurance. That provision is in the House bill passed last month. PIA is opposed to the inclusion of wind in NFIP flood policies.
